After having to put some of our much loved older dogs to sleep and seeing how stress-free and peaceful the process was at my own home surrounded by our loving family I realised how lucky my family was to have this service readily available to us, and saw a need for a peaceful at home euthanasia service in Christchurch. I believe that every pet deserves a dignified transition, surrounded by love and the familiarity of their own home environment.
Saying goodbye to a pet is one of the hardest decisions we have to make as a pet owner. As veterinarians, we are so lucky that our pets do not have their last memories of being in the sterility of a clinic environment, but are often at home in a familiar setting surrounded by their loved families. We also understand that some animals have a lot of anxiety and fear surrounding visiting the vet clinic and therefore being at home when we say goodbye can make this already difficult process a little easier. Many veterinarians are short staffed and working overtime to keep up with their commitments to their clients and they can no longer provide the service of an at-home euthanasia, this is where we can help fill that gap.
As veterinarians and pet mums and dads of our own, we truely do understand the deep bond that people share with their pets and the very difficult decisions we sometimes have to make.
We believe that every pet deserves a peaceful and dignified transition, surrounded by the love of their family in a familiar setting.
